For a Synodal Church: communion, participation and mission

On September 7, 2021, the general secretariat of the Synod of Bishops made public the Preparatory Document for the next Synod on Synodality. Document entitled “For a Synodal Church: communion, participation and mission”. The synodal process is to open solemnly on October 9-10, 2021 in Rome and on following October 17 X in each particular Church. It will conclude with the General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops in the Vatican in October 2023.

By this convocation, "Pope Francis invites the whole Church to question itself on a decisive theme for its life and its mission, underlines the text in its introductory part, recalling that "the path of synodality is precisely that which God expects from the Church of the third millennium”.  A Preparatory Document which “places itself at the service of the synodal journey, in particular as an instrument aiming to promote the first phase of listening and consultation of the People of God in the particular Churches (…) in the hope of contributing to stimulate ideas, the energies and creativity of all those who will take part in this itinerary… ”, it also explains.

Synodality: the fruit of prayer!
Let us pray together:

Here we are before You, Holy Spirit;
in Your Name we are gathered.
You our only advisor,
come to us, stay with us,
deign to inhabit our hearts.
Teach us towards what goal to orient ourselves;
show us how we should walk together.
We who are weak and sinners,
do not allow us to cause disorder.
Make sure,
that ignorance does not lead us down a wrong path,
nor that partiality influences our actions.
May we find in You our unity,
without straying from the path of truth and righteousness,
walking together towards eternal life.
We ask you,
who acts at all times and in all places,
in the communion of Father and Son,
forever and ever, Amen.
